Library Closing: February 27-March 24

Due to the scheduled replacement of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and associated mechanical elements, the Mt. Pleasant Regional Library will be closed from Monday, February 27 - Friday, March 24.

Book drops will remain open at all library locations for customer convenience.

If you are placing a hold that is likely to arrive between February 27-March 24, please select an alternate library branch for pick-up. If no other branch is selected, holds available for Mt. Pleasant patrons between February 27-March 24 will go to the Main Library by default.

Another option is if you would like to suspend your holds for while we are closed. Suspending your hold will keep your place in line for you but will not fill the hold until the hold is unsuspended.  If this sounds like something you're interested in we can do it for you or you can log on to your account and suspend your holds.

If you have any questions, feel free to comment below, call (843) 849-6161, or come by the library at 1133 Mathis Ferry Rd.

Susan Sloate

Forward to Camelot
On November 22, 1963, just hours after President Kennedy’s assassination, Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as President aboard Air Force One using JFK’s own Bible. Immediately afterward, the Bible disappeared. It has never been recovered. Today, its value would be beyond price.
In the year 2000, actress Cady Cuyler is recruited to return to 1963 for this Bible—while also discovering why her father disappeared in the same city, on the same tragic day. Finding frightening links between them will lead Cady to a far more perilous mission: to somehow prevent the President’s murder, with one unlikely ally: an ex-Marine named Lee Harvey Oswald.

Sloate also wrote Realizing You and Stealing Fire.

Sylvie Rosenberg escaped the holocaust—but can she escape the past? October 20, 1942. Benjamin Katz and his frightened family stand at the train station in occupied Holland, unsure if they would be taken to their freedom—or the death camp.  Sylvie, his granddaughter, who was six years old at the time, would later recall the madness as they wondered if their desperate last minute escape would work.  When the German officer received the order to allow the escape he said, "I would have much rather been given the order to kill all of you."

Their entire art collection had long made them a prime target of Adolf Hitler and his greedy henchmen.  Now they had one big trade—a Rembrandt in exchange for twenty-five lives.

Jerry and Nancy Binko have collaborated in writing a book that is down-to-earth and inspiring. Each of the twenty-one chapters offers thoughts for serious meditation.  They include: Getting to Know God, Taking Care of Yourself, Stewardship, The Attitude of Gratitude, Forgiveness, and Humility.  Add some humor, personal stories, and practical Scripture quotations, and you have a book that will lead you to a greater appreciation of God's love, as you reflect on what it means to live a life of joy as a Christian.

What a sad day for Fred Winklemeyer III, a cherubic, freckled-faced seven-year-old.  His world is about to turn upside down.  Fred must move from his home surrounded by sights and sounds to a strange and serene place.  But Jake, Fred's new best buddy, has other plans first...they embark on an exciting, risky adventure! Fred soon discovers that change can bring curious, fun-filled escapades!
