SUMMER READING IS ALMOST HERE

Summer is a great time for relaxing, having fun and having a vacation from school.  Statistics show that students who read during summer vacation do better in school the next year if they have kept up with their reading.

The library has great summer reading programs for babies through adult age.  Encourage your school- age children to keep up with their reading so they won't forget what they learned the previous school year.  Children will receive prizes for the hours they read.  Young Adult readers will receive prizes for their entries and adult entries will be entered into drawings for prizes.

Summer Reading starts June 1, but you may pick up the children's brochure any time to find out about the great summer programs for children.

Thanks for reading.

BOOK DISPLAYS

There are two new book displays for our patrons.  One is about gardening books.  Come in and chose books that will help you find out how to have a great garden, whether it's vegetable or flower gardening you're interested in.

Our other display is for Young Adult Summer Reading.  Most schools have summer reading lists for middle and high school and it's not too early to chose books.  The display is for the South Carolina Junior or Young Adult Awards.  Most of these books are on the reading lists.  By the end of June most of these books are checked out and have reserve lists, so come and check out yours while the supply is good. Every year many students wait until August and are disappointed when their selection is not available and they have to buy it.

The books on our displays are always available for checkout.

Thanks for reading.
