HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

St. Patrick's Day has become a big holiday in the past few years with parades and celebrations across the country.  If you're interested in Ireland and its people, the library has a good selection of Irish fiction authors. We also have travel guides if you're interested in visiting this beautiful green isle.

This is a very detailed guidebook with many color photos. It describes food, customs, culture and attractions.

One of the most beloved Irish authors of the 20th century is Maeve Binchy.  Her stories make you feel like you're in Ireland.
Some other great Irish writers are Stuart Neville, Tana French, Patrick Taylor, Frank Delany, Nuala O'Connor, Adrian McKinty, James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Colm Toibin, Colum McCann, and Roddy Doyle.  These are just of a few.

Frank McCourt wrote the memoir "Angela's Ashes" which portrays his life of poverty in the 1950's, and his later success as a teacher in the United States.

How about a DVD set in Ireland?  Some titles are My Left Foot, Calvary, Philomena, Brooklyn, Jack Taylor, Ballykissangel, Stella Days, Albert Nobbs, and Single Handed.

Enjoy our Irish selection and thanks for reading.
