The site looks and has the same offers as Amazon, but the AmazonSmile webpage allows shoppers to designate a charity to receive a donation of one-half percent of the amount spent. The Friends of the Charleston County Library is a registered charitable organization with Amazon, and users can select the Friends to receive a donation anytime they purchase something from the site.
To take advantage of this option, shoppers must access Amazon through the Foundation-related web address – http://smile.amazon.com. Using your normal Amazon login, you’ll be prompted to select a charity the first time you sign in. There are more than one million charities registered with the site. After making a selection, users automatically are sent to a page with the familiar-looking Amazon layout and can start shopping. To make sure your charity continues to receive donations, you must use the specialAmazonSmile web page every time you shop on the site, so don’t forget to bookmark the page.
It’s a great way to make your money go further and to make a difference in your community. For more information, check out these details about AmazonSmile.
