This special sale will pay tribute to CCPL librarian Cynthia Graham Hurd, who was among the nine victims of the shooting tragedy at Emanuel A.M.E. Church last year. During the sale, special bookmarks will be given to each customer, and Mother Emanuel memorial prints from local photographer Michael Kaynard will be available for purchase with proceeds going toward the Cynthia Graham Hurd Memorial Fund.
Cynthia Graham Hurd worked with the county's libraries for 31 years, serving as branch manager of the John L. Dart Branch from 1990 to 2011 before becoming manager of the St. Andrews Regional Library. She spent her life helping people, particularly helping them become educated. In a 2003 interview, Hurd said, "I like helping people find answers," adding that the best thing about being a librarian was service. "Your whole reason for being there is to help people."
