Dogs are still considered man's best friend, even if you are a cat-lover.  Photographer Elias Friedman has chosen 1,000 of his close-up and personal photographs of dogs, and compiled the book, "The Dogist."

He likes to look into the eyes of his subjects.  There are photos of every kind of dog you can imagine.  Most of the photos are taken in New York City parks, and all of the dogs are identified by breed and their names.

You might think that Friedman would have a household of dogs, but he says he wouldn't be able to devote the time needed to a dog with his travel schedule. Check out the great pictures of these beautiful animals.
