Out of Solar Eclipse Glasses at MTP

We're out of Solar Eclipse Glasses here at the Mount Pleasant Branch located at 1133 Mathis Ferry Rd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.

While we may be out we have a few places where you can either purchase or obtain glasses for the total eclipse happening on Monday, August 21st.  The biggest thing to remember about glasses is they need to be ISO 12312-2 certified according to NASA.  Glasses should be worn at all times; the only time it is safe to look at the eclipse without the glasses is during totality.

Places to purchase glasses (highly recommended calling before driving to these locations if a brick and mortar store):

American Paper Optics (25 packs only)
Bi-Lo
Check with your local optometrist
Charleston Visitors Center
East Cooper Medical Center (from 9 to 4:30, this week only)
Harris Teeter
Home Depot
Lowes
Mount Pleasant Visitors Center
Sunglasses Stores (e.g. Shades)
Walmart

Another way to see the eclipse without glasses is to use a pinhole viewer. Download directions created by Pacific University here.

There are also a plethora of events going on the day of around Charleston County where glasses will be handed out at the event.

From the Charleston City Paper's article "The Ultimate Guide to Charleston's Solar Eclipse Events" , a few to highlight are:
